BL’s Blast Off has spent 13 years on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and has become Australia’s most popular family surf festival. Now in its 14th year, BL’s Blast Off is blasting off in Bali on Monday the 15th of April. Part coaching program, part surfing contest, Blast Off attracts the perfect mix of first-timers to surfing events and the best young surfers in the world.

BL’s first international trip was to Bali as a 14-year-old in 1978 and he fell in love with the island paradise. It seems only fitting that Blast Off follows BL’s personal migration to Bali for its first international expansion.

The first 3 days are a coaching program that operates within the confines of a surfing contest, but with its own rules and procedures. The focus is on helping kids to improve their surfing performance and knowledge. Kids love it because they all get to surf three times before anyone is eliminated.

Past winners of BL’s Blast Off include Tyler Wright, Kyuss King, Mickey Wright, and more who have gone onto to achieve great things.

80 participants for the first year of Hurley BL’s Bali Blast Off presented by the Perfect Wave is fantastic. The mix of international and local surfers will create an atmosphere reminiscent of being on tour.

The event blasts off with the Opening ceremony Sunday the 14th of April at 3:30pm, followed by 4 days of action packed surfing, culminating to the final on Friday the 19th of April. Daily events such as Blast Off Idol, a talent search competition, will be held at the event headquarters S-Resorts Bali.

It’s going to be a blast!
